Mixing technology
PREMA-SERVICE develops, supplies and maintains mixing technology for the chemical and petrochemical industries, refineries and wastewater treatment.
We ensure the safe and efficient mixing of industrial tanks.
Our range: Tank mixers (side-entry) for large storage and oil tanks, extraction columns for liquid-liquid extraction, and static mixers (PMR) for energy-efficient in-line mixing. All systems are available in ATEX-compliant versions (Zone 1).
Thanks to our extensive experience in meeting technical and economic requirements, as well as our comprehensive range of services relating to mixing units, we build long-standing, trusting partnerships with our customers.
PREMA-SERVICE’s side-entry mixers, extraction columns and static mixers all meet the highest standards in terms of safety, efficiency, cost-effectiveness and environmental friendliness.
Useful information about tank mixers
Where are tank mixers/ side-entry mixersused?
Tank mixers / side-entry mixers are used in refineries, in the chemical industry, in tank farms and in wastewater treatment plants. The agitators are suitable for a wide variety of products, such as crude oil, petrol, diesel, heating oil, FAME (fatty acid methyl ester), vacuum residues, slop, fuels, chemical products, asphalt, bitumen, waste water and foodstuffs.
What are side-entry mixers used for?
PREMA-SERVICE tank mixers / side-entry mixers are suitable for use in large stationary tanks. They can circulate liquids in tanks with volumes ranging from approximately 50 to150,000 m³; the maximum tank heights are approximately 30 m.
The following mixing tasks can be carried out:
- Homogenisation of single- and multi-phase liquid mixtures (e.g. fuels such as petrol, diesel, biodiesel, chemical products, etc.)
- Prevention of sediment build-up (e.g. crude oils, waste water, etc.)
Maintaining constant temperatures (e.g. asphalt/bitumen, chemical products, etc.)
Where are the boundaries of the products that are to be mixed together?
In principle, all liquids, as well as liquids containing small amounts of solids, can be mixed. When mixing pure liquids, the viscosity should not exceed 1,500 mPaxs and the difference in density should not exceed200 kg/m³.
Crude oil storage tanks can also be operated up to a viscosity of 1,500 mPaxs, but with a density difference of300 kg/m³ between the liquid phases, such as water and hydrocarbons.
Which guidelines do the tank mixers comply with?
The tank mixers are manufactured in accordance with the EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and the ATEX Product Directive 2014/34/EU, and are accompanied by the relevant certificates of conformity and declarations of conformity. Other regulations may be taken into account and complied with during manufacture.
Where can the tank mixers be installed and operated?
The tank mixers can be installed outdoors in almost all climate zones. Ambient temperatures ranging from -40 to +60°C and operating temperatures (in high-temperature applications) of up to 240°C are possible.
In which ATEX zones can the tank mixers be installed and operated?
Ex area of Zones 1 and 2
Ex IIC T4
What points should be borne in mind when installing the tank mixers?
PREMA-SERVICE agitators can be fitted easily and directly to the tanks’ mounting sockets. Due to their very compact design, unlike those of our competitors, no additional supports or suspension points are required on the tank. We can supply the bolts and seals together with the machines.
What needs to be taken into account to ensure safe operation?
PREMA-SERVICE tank mixers are designed to ensure safe, long-term operation with multiple safety features. When circulating flammable liquids, the agitators must only be operated with the propeller fully submerged in the liquid.
What maintenance and servicing is required?
PREMA-SERVICE tank mixers are extremely robust, and all components are designed for a very long service life. Maintenance requirements are minimised thanks to specific design features, and maintenance is made very simple and straightforward. For example, a mechanical seal or gearbox can be replaced directly on the tank without dismantling the mixers or emptying the tank.
What are the advantages of PREMA-SERVICE mixers?
PREMA-SERVICE has been manufacturing tank mixers and side-entry mixers for over 40 years. Drawing on this extensive experience, our agitators offer a wide range of benefits, such as
- Compact dimensions and depth
- No additional suspension or support is required apart from attachment to the tank nozzle, thus avoiding all the associated disadvantages
- Long service life
- Long maintenance intervals and low maintenance requirements (e.g. no need to replace drive belts)
- Smooth running
- Low vibrations and oscillations
- Low-noise, quiet
- Easy replacement of wear parts
- Modular system, i.e. many common parts even across different power ratings and sizes
- Core components are tried-and-tested in-house designs with long-term availability (e.g. mechanical seals, gearboxes)
- Special versions available, such as the HT high-temperature version or the LN extra-low-noise version
- Extensive range of optional extras available (vibration monitoring, level sensors, temperature monitoring, double mechanical seals in accordance with API Plans 52, 53A, B, etc.)
- Project support with a dedicated contact person
- Fast and customer-focused service
How time-consuming is it to replace wear parts?
PREMA-SERVICE tank mixers are designed to last for more than one inspection interval. Maintenance and repair work on the drive units and the mechanical seal can be carried out whilst the tank is full. For this purpose, the tank mixers is fitted with a standstill seal. No additional special tools are required for handling.
